About Exam

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is among the most competitive Medical Entrance Tests. It is conducted by CBSE every year in the month of May. It is a combined national level medical entrance exam which gives a way for admission to the government and private medical faculties. Applicants who qualify the examination are given admission in undergraduate courses of MBBS/BDS. 

From the year 2016, NEET is the only exam for getting admission in all government and private medical colleges except AIIMS and JIPMER. No other entrance exam will be considered valid for the admission.

Eligibility

All the Class 12th students are eligible to apply for NEET. Applicant should be minimum of 17 years of age to apply for NEET. The other essential eligibility criteria had been discussed underneath:

• Number of Attempts: According to the most recent news, candidates may attempt the exam 9 times (GEN) and 14 times (SC/ST/OBC class applicants).
• Aadhaar Card: Aadhaar card is compulsory to apply for NEET 2018 examination.
• Nationality: Candidates should have Indian citizenship.
• Lower Age Limit: Candidate's should finish 17 years at the season of admission or would finish latest by 31st December 2018.

• Open Category (UR): Born on or between 8th May 1993 and 1stJanuary 2002.
• SC/ST/OBC Category: Born on or between 8thMay 1988 and 1st January 2002.
• Qualifying Exam: Candidate have probably passed the higher/senior optional examination or CISCE which is proportionate to 10+2 examination following a time of 12 years think about.
• Subjects: Candidates must pass the above qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and Mathematics or some other elective subjects with English.
• Minimum Marks: Candidates must secure least 50% (GEN), 40% (SC/ST/OBC), 45% (GEN PH) and 40% (SC/ST/OBC-PH) taken together in PCB subjects.
• Intermediate Candidates: Candidates who are in the 12th grade can likewise apply. They would need to demonstrate the passing certificates complying with the percentage criteria at the time of first round of counseling.

The details regarding the Application Procedure for the exam of NEET can be seen below:

• Applicants can apply for NEET Application  “Online” only.
• Applicants must follow the instructions strictly as given in the Information Bulletin and on the website. 
• Upload Photo, Signature and also Right Hand Index Finger Impression in the application form.
• The Scanned image of the recent Photo of the applicant is required and it should be in JPG format and Image size should be between 10Kb to 100Kb.
• The Scanned image of Signature of the applicant is required and it should be in JPG format and Image size should be between 3Kb to 20Kb.
• The Scanned image of (Left-Hand) Thumb Impression of the applicant is required and it should be in JPG format and image size should be between 3Kb to 20Kb.
• The Scanned image of Self Declaration required if applicant belongs to Andhra Pradesh, J&K, and Telangana) is required and it should be uploaded in JPG format and Image size should be between 200Kb to 300Kb.

Exam Pattern

The Exam pattern of the exam of NEET can be seen below:

• This test will contain 180 objective type questions (four options with the single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology).
• Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks. Maximum marks are 720.
• Negative marking is applicable. 1 Mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
• The duration of the test will be 3 hours.
• Candidates can opt for Question Paper in ten languages - Hindi, English, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Bengali, Assamese, Tamil, Oriya and Kannada.
• The option once exercised by applicants cannot be changed later.
• Applicants opting for English would be provided Test Booklet in English only.
• Opting for Hindi would be provided Bilingual Test Booklet i.e. in Hindi and in English.
• NEET 2018 would be held both in an Online and Offline mode.
• The applicants would be able to select their choice of language from the given options while filling the NEET Application.
• All the questions would be multiple choice based.
• 1 mark would be deducted for every wrong answer given.
• Total Marks: The question paper would bear a total of 720 marks.
• Marking Scheme: Every question would be carrying 4 marks. Total of 4 marks would be given for every correct answer by the candidate.
• Negative Marking: One mark would be deducted for every incorrect response given by the candidate.
• Candidates would be required to use only blue/black ball point pen to be able to mark their answers.
• Candidates noting down multiple answers for one question shall lead to negative marking.

Some of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) related to the exam of NEET are as follows:

Q: I made the double payment. Additional fee has still not been refunded. When can I expect it?

Ans: It is usually done so within 7 working days to the same account from which the payment was made. This goes as per the policy of the bank.

Q: I submitted the form. Now I want to pay the application fee. The issue is, I am unable to see the Step 3 page, payment of the fee. What do I do?

Ans: This can be reached through the candidate’s login page by entering user id and password generated earlier.

Q: I have been trying to pay the application fee through net banking but have been unable to do so. Why?

Ans: In case you are unable to pay application fee through net banking, then there are other modes available that may be used, provided the fee gets paid within the specified period. These are through debit card, credit card, and e-wallet. Whatever the case may be, the application fee will not be accepted after the final date of submission and no candidate will be entertained unless the fee has been paid.

Q: What is the minimum age limit for appearing in NEET-UG?

Ans: It is 17 years.

Q: What is the number of attempts for appearing in NEET-UG?

Ans: There is no limit to attempt for NEET-UG.

Q: Is there any change in the pattern of NEET-UG?

Ans: No.

Cut-Offs

NEET cut-off refers to the minimum marks required by the candidate to be eligible for Admissions in various medical and dental faculties of India. Last year the applicants who scored 131 marks and above in the general class have qualified the examination. The cut-off for applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC was set at 107 marks out of 720. NEET cut-off varies every year depending on the number of applicants appearing for the exam, difficulty level and the number of seats.

Selection Procedure

For the Exam of NEET, the selection procedure in explained below:

• Top 15% students will be eligible for seats under all India quota. This cut-off is expected to be at 470 marks out of 720. There will also be a waiting list four times the merit list.
• The list of successful candidates from each State/UT shall be forwarded to the Directorate of Medical Education of the State/UT concerned for the purpose of allotment of seats by online counseling/personal appearance subject to applicable laws prevailing in the State/UT.
• The List of Successful Candidates opted for AFMC shall be forwarded to the Directorate General of Armed Force Medical Service, Ministry of Defence, and Government of India for Second Stage Screening and Counselling.

Documents to be Carried

The applicant appearing for allotment for NEET 2018 by personal appearance, should bring the following documents in original along with an attested copy of the documents for verification, without which they shall not be allowed to participate in the allotment process.

• Admit Cards of Preliminary & Final Exam issued by CBSE.

Intakes

There are total 63,835 medical seats in 426 MBBS Colleges in India. Candidates should also know that Common Counselling will be held for 15% All India Quota Seats using NEET  merit list and admission on 85% State Quota Seats will be given using NEET Score and as per the eligibility criteria of the particular state by Directorate of Medical Education.

• 15% All India Quota Seats- Would be filled at an All India Level as per the criteria using NEET merit list.
• 85% State Quota Seats (Govt Colleges)- Admission will be using NEET scores and as per eligibility criteria of the state by Directorate of Medical Education.
• Private and deemed- NEETscores, state criteria, admissions would be done by Directorate of Medical Education State.
• Armed Forces College- Seats filled using NEET scores counseling would be done at the Institute itself.
